Abstract of Interview: Farm Holiday activities in Benson area; Farm Bureau and Farmers Union and functions as service organizations for farmers; Benson during Depression years; public reaction to Roosevelt and New Deal legislation; beginnings of Farmer Labor Movement; reaction to Governor Floyd Olson; Years 1933 to 1937, farm drought in the midst of Great Depression, WWI, NFO and activities in southern Minnesota: role of county and federal governments. Biographical information: Orville Tatge was born in South Dakota. Family moved to Benson in 1918. Drafted in WWI army. Elected President of Swift County NFO in Fanuary, 1963. Appointed County Treasurer of DFL in December, 1969, and served for one year.
