Dr. Charles Germo served Balaton, Lyon County, from 1896 to 1945 as a resident doctor. The collection contains a bound volume, plus several dozen letters of thanks to Dr. Germo for his fifty years of service to Balaton. The letters are from a variety of people, from other doctors in Southwest Minnesota, public officials in Minnesota, townspeople and friends. Also included are an appreciation program, photos, and newsclippings of Dr. and Mrs. Germo's fiftieth wedding anniversary.

Senator Josefson is of Icelandic descent and has farmed in Lyon and Lincoln Counties most of his life. Senator Josefson served 18 years as township and county farm program committeeman.
