Scope and Contents
Pieper, age 102, is a German immigrant who came to Minnesota in 1890, working for a while in Steele County, as a hired man on a farm. In 1898 married and moved to Clara City, Chippewa County where he started to farm and purchased a 120 acre farm. Discusses farm life and changes on the farm from 1898 to 1940's when he retired. Reference made to Farmers' Alliance, Nonpartisan League, and Farm Holiday. Was active in organization of Farmers' Co-op Elevator and Farmers' Co-op Telephone Company at Clara City.
